Abstract

Secondary title: Review and analysis of contemporary techniques of sheet metal punching
Secondary abstract: Procedures and working machines for punching sheet metal are relatively well investigated and well established in literature. This is the case with a long established and well-known procedures and working machines. However, the working machines and procedures with a completely new development of punching mechanisms have been in use or in progress. They enable shortest production times, better tool persistence and lower costs of production and have not been described in the Slovene literature yet. Therefore this diploma thesis offers a comprehensive overview of these machines and procedures. The established results of the research of punching described in literature are valid for lower speed of punching, i. e. about 150 strokes per minute. The new working machines in the field of punching can reach more than 10-times higher working speeds, i. e. about 2000 strokes per minute. In such circumstances we achieve different and more advantageous loading on working pieces, which affect the precision of working products. In this case we talk about the High Speed Punching. The new possibilities of lowering production costs are in working machines, which are smaller and more efficient (Bruderer, Schuler, Trumpf). An interesting example of punching is also “punching without using a working machine”, in which we think of high speed electromagnetic punch presses (made by the USA enterprise WinSet Technologies, LLC.), which are not bigger than punching tool itself. They have a very small number of moving parts, which means that there are fewer possibilities for unexpected defects, which cause unplanned losses in current production. There are many more new punching procedures described in this work, which may appear in market in few years and significantly affect the contemporary production of punching sheet metal.
