Abstract

V sodobnem času se je velik del človekovega delovanja preselil na internet. V pričujočem diplomskem delu smo zato internet namesto sistema računalniških omrežij prepoznali kot družbeno komponento, preko katere je mogoča celo mobilizacija družbenih gibanj. Tako smo raziskovali možnost in pomen novih tehnologij za organizacijo in izvedbo družbenega aktivizma ter skušali ugotoviti, kakšne so dejanske zmožnosti tovrstnega aktivizma. Pri tem smo podrobneje analizirali protivladne proteste v Egiptu januarja in februarja 2011, ki so bili organizirani preko spleta in zaradi katerih se vse bolj poudarja pomen spletnih družbenih omrežij.

Secondary abstract:	In modern times, a big part of human activity is moved to the Internet. In this thesis, therefore, instead of the system of computer networks, we identified Internet as a social component, through which social movement mobilization is possible. Thus, we investigated the possibility and importance of new technologies for social activism to be organized and implemented. Also we tried to figure the actual capabilities of such online activism. Further, we analyzed the anti-government protests in Egypt in January and February 2011 which were organized on the Internet and which increasingly stressed the importance of online social networks.
