Abstract

Secondary title: Influence of rotor thichness on axialflux permanent magnet synchronous machines characteristics
Secondary abstract: Nowadays, the use of axial flux permanent magnet synchronous machines (AFPMSM) is increasing also as wind power generators. Due to the relatively large weights of these generators there is a tendency towards the implementation of generators as lightweight as possible. In this work, the influence of rotor disk thickness on double rotor disk AFPMSM characteristics is investigated. The existing prototype AFPMSM was chosen, its three-dimensional numerical model was built and magnetic field distribution was calculated by using finite element method within the Ansys software package. In order to select as thin as possible but still appropriate thickness of rotor disks the AFPMSM characteristics based on magnetic field distributions were calculated.
