delo diplomskega seminarja
Abstract

ǂA ǂcomparison of population participation in entrepreneurship in Slovenia and Australia |
Secondary abstract: |
Entrepreneurship is one of the key drivers of economic growth in countries around the globe. It represents self-employment, profession and ownership, the seizing of business opportunities as well as creation of new jobs. In addition, small and medium-sized entreprises are the foundation for long-term sustainable economic development. The central thesis of this dissertation is that the population participation in entrepreneurship depends on the stage of the economic development and its related factors. The comparison of data on population engagement in entrepreneurship activity from Slovenia and Australia shows that, despite the fact that both countries exhibit a rising trend in population participation in entrepreneurship, there are significant differences between the two countries. The results show that people in Slovenia and Australia engage in entrepreneurship activity for different reasons, the proportion between women and men varies, and that cultural and social norms play an important role in the entrepreneurship activity. Last, but certainly not least, there is a considerable contrast between the government policies, which support and encourage entrepreneurship activity in the respective countries. |
