[diplomsko delo
Abstract
V okviru praktičnega dela diplomske naloge sem zasnovala enonadstropno počitniško hišo iz slame, pokrito z enokapno streho in izdelala maketo objekta, v merilu 1:5. Uporabila sem lesen nosilni sistem, pred katerega so postavljene bale. V prvi fazi izdelave makete sem zasnovala orodje, s katerim sem izdelala bale v merilu 1:5.

Locally available materials have left a mark on construction activity in the time before globalization and are also in use today in every day construction in less developed areas. Most of the world population do not have the possibility to built with high technology materials, which are widely used in the developed part of the world. Increasing the conscience on sustainable development issues leads to the interest in use of natural construction materials in the developed world as well. Current technological achievements in combination with traditional materials enable us to construct high quality natural homes, although properly educated staff are in demand.
The focus of this thesis is on straw as a construction material. Straw is a by-product of food industry and is an annually renewable natural source. Straw construction has a long tradition. Straw was used for insulation, as additive in earth construction and when tied in sheaves, for roof covering. Nevertheless, the construction technique using straw bales is of recent origin. In the late 19th century the inhabitants of the American city Nebraska were forced to use alternative methods of construction due to the shortage of building materials. Therefore, the straw bale construction technique was developed and is still in use today.
The above mentioned knowledge was applied in the design of a one-storey lodge made of straw, covered with a single pitched roof. The model of the building in the scale of 1:5 was made. The lodge has a wooden load bearing system with bales placed in front of it. The ground plan of the building consists of a lounge with a kitchenette, a bedroom and a bathroom. The lounge opens to a deck witch is also accessible from the bedroom. In the initial phase of the model construction a tool for straw bale production in scale 1:5 was developed. |
