Abstract

Secondary title: Study of poultry feather fibers properties
Secondary abstract: ceFeathers are important waste disposal of poultry industry, therefore, finding the right and wide application of poultry feathers will be one of the most important achivements in the field of industrial waste management and recycling in the poultry industry in the foture. The aim of thesis is to explore the properties of fibers from waste poultry feathers and determine which areas and what materials/products would be potentially useful. The results showed that the poultry feathers have very similar chemical structure to wool. The basic difference is that the reactions in solvents and reagents in the plumage, the more compact physical structure are slower and less intense than with wool. Feathers in the standard atmosphere absorb around 13 % less moisture. Feathers keeps after centrifugation about 12 % less water than wool, has a slightly lower strength and, on average, much thinner than wool. Better chemical resistance and swelling in water compared with wool, feathers provide better potential application for technical textiles and composites, such as.: Isolation and filtration materials.
