Abstract

V današnjem času naj bi bilo vseživljenjsko učenje v zahodnoevropskih in ostalih gospodarsko razvitih državah eden izmed pomembnejših nacionalno izobraževalnih načel. Uveljavljanje vseživljenjskega učenja postavlja pred družbo in pred vse vzgojno izobraževalne ustanove zahtevo po povezovanju formalnega in neformalnega izobraževanja povezanega z delovnim in življenjskim okoljem.

Secondary title: Lifelong learning as a factor in career development
Secondary abstract: Lifelong learning is nowadays in Western European and other economically developed countries one of the basic principles of national education policies. Implementation of lifelong learning demands integration of formal and informal education connected with working and living environment from both, society and educational institutions. It requires continuity between basic and advanced education networks building of educational networks and partnerships. Development of lifelong learning is strongly linked to the design and operation of educational systems in the European Union. Among other things, is subject to its placement at the tertiary level of education, where Universities are major factor in implementation of lifelong learning. It is the University that could, already during their study, have a significant impact on students, to acquire further informal knowledge, important for their individual career development. Due to a critical mass of individuals at universities who are eager to acquire new knowledge and based on already accepted criteria, as a measure for the recognition of non-formal education according to the ECTS, universities have an opportunity to become the main providers of formal education and recognition of non-formal education in lifelong learning.
