Abstract

Secondary title: Extract of pine wood and UV permeability of materials
Secondary abstract: The purpose of presented diploma was to study the impact of applied extract of red pine on UV permeability of dyed cotton fabric, and to evaluate the possibility of combining two procedures, i.e. dyeing and UV finishing, in one. In the exhaustion dyeing procedure, we used different concentrations of reactive dyes and added different amounts of UV absorber extracted from red pine. All samples were spectrophotometrically evaluated as well as the UV permeability was measured, from which UPF factor was calculated. We have also observed resistance of such UV treatment to washing. It was found that extract of red pine had a significant impact on increasing protection against ultraviolet radiation. On the other hand, several washing procedures substantially decreased fabrics' UV protection.
