Abstract

Secondary title: Effects of photocatalytic textile care treatment
Secondary abstract: This graduation thesis represents the effects of the photacatalytic textile care of cotton textiles. Photocatalysis is a process which includes the activation of chemical reaction by the catalytic converter and photons which start the initial reaction mechanism inside the converter. Cotton being the most frequently used textile fibre is a natural cellulosic fibre. However, it is now known that cleaning of textiles is a controversial process from an ecological and energetic point of view because of the chemical pollution. This problem may be reduced by using self-cleaning surfaces or surfaces based on the photoactive metal oxides which require simple maintenance. Recently, there has been a prominent activity towards alternative cleaning procedures which are the subjects of several surveys. One of them is also the photocatalytic textile care which still remains unexamined and will therefore be the subject of my graduation thesis.
