Abstract

Z zaključkom formalne izobrazbe in pričetkom poklicnega življenja naše obdobje izobraževanja še zdaleč ni zaključeno. V diplomski nalogi so predstavljena teoretska izhodišča s področja izobraževanja s posebnim poudarkom na izobraževanju in usposabljanju medicinskih sester v Sloveniji. Opravili smo raziskavo v zdravstveni ustanovi x.

Secondary title: EDUCATION OF NURSES IN SLOVENIA
Secondary abstract: By concluding the formal education process and by entering the professional life, our education and training do not end. We learn all our lives and we should do so at work, as well. If one wishes to be up to date on the changes in the world, one needs to upgrade its basic knowledge and skills through continuing education and training. It is important one is aware of that and acts upon it. There are several types of education available to nurses. They can continue their studies (formal education), they can attend seminars, workshops and various courses outside their institution or take part in specialized training within their institution. They can go to fairs or educate themselves individually outside their working hours. Nurses are professionally obliged to be actively involved in continuing education and training which sets grounds for a safe and effective medical care. This thesis outlines some education theories with a particular emphasis on the education and training of nurses in Slovenia. A research has been conducted in the health care institution X. The purpose of the research is to establish how often and who takes part in the education and training process, to establish the motives and possible problems related to the education and training within the organization. In the empirical part of this thesis, I have presented the results of the survey which concluded that education and training are not unfamiliar to the employees but they lack the will to upgrade their knowledge and skills.
