diplomsko delo

Abstract

Diplomsko delo obravnava popolno barvno slepoto. Pomembne so tri barvne dimenzije - svetlost, barvnost in čistost. S temi dimenzijami spoznamo barvo predmeta, njegovo podobnost z belino in nasičenost barve s sivino. Barvno slepa oseba vidi lastnosti barv drugače.

Secondary title: HOW DOES A COLOUR-DEFICIENT PERSON SEE
Secondary abstract: The main focus of my diploma thesis is a special kind of vision deficiency called complete colour blindness. The thesis includes theoretical information and practical outcomes in terms of how colour blindness relates to visual arts. Being able to work with a person with colour vision deficiency made me realise how does she see colours and to what extent do these colours differ from those perceived by a parson with no colour-impaired vision. The pictures drawn to stress this difference are therefore perceived in different perspective, i.e. as seen through the eyes of a person with colour vision deficiency. The eye is our most important sense organ which makes it possible for us to perceive and imagine the world, to orientate in it and to be aware of our surroundings. Visual perception cannot function without light which is the main medium in terms of first impressions. Beams of light, reflecting off of objects, help us perceive colours, reflections and shadows; all forming the world as we know it. Visual arts can be experienced through various senses which form a system interconnecting the artwork and our consciousness. Our eyesight enables us to perceive colours as well as their characteristics. In this respect, three colour dimensions are important - brightness, colouring and purity. These dimensions help us recognise the colour of an object, its resemblance with whiteness and saturation of greyness. A person with colour vision deficiency sees these characteristics differently which means that the artwork has to be approached on a basis of different colour dimensions. I have therefore presented my artwork in grey-scale as it is perceived by a person with such deficiency, and in grey-scale of brightness value.
