Abstract

Izvajajo pristope k stiski, s katerimi se bolnica lažje prilagodi spremenjeno podobo in sposobnost, čuti podporo in zadovoljstvo v terapevtskem odnosu z medicinsko sestro.

Secondary title: The self-esteem of women after breast reconstruction
Secondary abstract: The purpose of this study was to present the self-esteem of women after breast reconstruction. Through descriptive research methods, we were able to answer our research based questions. Breast reconstruction is part of a comprehensive treatment which not only improves the appearance of the affected breast and of course the patient herself, but also improves the quality of life, psychological status of the patient and restores their confidence. The self-image of female patients with breast cancer is significantly affected by changes in appearance and functionality that the reconstructive procedure brings. Nurses have the ability to recognize the needs of patients for advice and emotional support and they represent the education, support and advocacy role. They approach distressed patients to help them adapt to their altered image and ability, feel the support and satisfaction in a therapeutic relationship with the nurse. After reviewing and analyzing the literature, we found out how the reconstruction process affects the self-esteem of women, their lives, and what meaning bears the role of a nurse in maintaining a positive self-image. We have found that in establishments that treat patients with breast cancer should pay more attention to these problems, design appropriate multi-disciplinary teams and be able to support an organized self-help patients with breast cancer.
