Abstract

Secondary title: Influence of forest kindergarten on a child's locomotor development
Secondary abstract: In the present thesis with the title Influence of forest kindergarten on a child's locomotor development we wanted to figure out, over a longer period of time by means of locomotor tests, how staying in the forest affects the locomotor development of a child. In the first part of the thesis we used the literature to identify the locomotor development of a child and the factors that influence the development, we described the locomotor abilities and focused on the forest kindergarten programme. In the second part of the thesis we presented the analysis of the results of locomotor tests, for which we used an experimental method and a longitudinal study of children over a longer period of time. In this study we used a non-coincidental pattern of a specific population of children, which consisted of 29 children from the kindergarten of Ivančna Gorica, where a lot of activities are carried out in the forest, and of 30 children from the kindergarten of Oton Župančič, Črnomelj, who perform their locomotor activities in the gym and outside the kindergarten, however, not as often as the experimental group. For data collection we used a quantitative technique, namely, locomotor tests which were repeated five times in one year. The results of the data processing have confirmed our assumed hypothesis that staying in the forest has a positive impact on locomotor development of a child. The calculation of the T-test has also shown that there is a statistically significant difference (p = 0.000; p < 0.05) among children who spend more time in the forest and those children who do not spend much time in the forest.
