Abstract

Secondary title: Treatment of patients with fibromyalgia
Secondary abstract: Theoretical bases: Fibromyalgia is a common and complex disease, that causes pain and sensitivity to touch. Typical for the disease is that the pain isn't constant, rather it moves around the body. Combined with other symptoms it affects patients physical, psychological and social aspects of life. Peculiarity with the disease is that it's hard to diagnose, as there are no tests that would confirm the disease. Purpose of the research is to ascertain the effects of fibromyalgia on the patient and with the help of a case study determine patient care for someone suffering from fibromyalgia. Methodology of research: To determine theoretical bases we've used foreign and domestic professional literature. In the empirical part we've used descriptive method of work. We have conducted a case study where we've used semi-structured interview with the patient suffering from fibromyalgia. Patient was treated according to the model of Marjory Gordon, that is based on eleven functional patterns of healthy behaviors. Results: With the help of a case study we have ascertained the following nursing diagnosis: ineffective protection, constipation, occasional; urine, functional incontinence; activity, inability for physical activity (type I); fatigue; Sleep, sleep disturbances; pain, chronic (pain, which migrates throughout the body), Concentration, lacking; memory, incomplete and sexual dysfunction Conclusion: Fibromyalgia affects more and more people, regardless of age. What is the exact cause of the rise of disease, is not yet fully known. Also, disease has a major impact on patient's quality of life because it largely affects the physical, psychological and social isolation of the patient. So it is important that nurses treat patient with especially empathetic and compassionate attitude so that the patient retains its dignity.
