Abstract
Razdelili smo 150 anketnih vprašalnikov, vrnjenih smo dobili 113, kar predstavlja 75 % odzivnost. Raziskava je potekala od avgusta do oktobra 2016. Podatke pridobljene z raziskavo smo analizirali s programom Microsoft Office Excel 2010 in statističnim programom SPSS 20,0.
Sklep: Izvajalci zdravstvene nege in oskrbe ob delu z umirajočimi občutijo različne občutke.

Theoretical basis: Palliative care is a multidisciplinary approach to specialized medical care for people with life-limiting illnesses. It focuses on providing people with relief from the symptoms, pain, physical stress, and mental stress of the terminal diagnosis. The goal of such therapy is to improve quality of life for both the person and their family. With the escalation of chronical diseases and lengthening of life span, demands for palliative care and with that the demands for adequately qualified and proficient health workers increase more and more. The goal of this research is to find out the level of knowledge of health workers, who deal with palliative care.
Research methodology: We used the qualitative method of work. We used an anonymous questionnaire with 17 questions. We distributed 150 questionnaires among the health workers and received 113 completed questionnaires. The research proceeded from August until October 2016. For the analysis, we used descriptive statistics and bivariate analysis (hi-square test).
Results: While working with dying patients, palliative care health workers experience different feelings, mostly they experience sadness, helplessness, discomfort and anxiety. The research has shown that palliative care health workers estimate their knowledge as good. Only 28% of them received their knowledge of palliative care during studying. The results show that most of them want further training in the field of palliative care.
Conclusion: Results have shown that palliative care health workers experience different feelings, while working with dying people. Most of their knowledge has been acquired while working in a health organisation and they estimate it as good. However, they do want some further training and education, as they believe it would improve their skills. |
