magistrsko delo
Abstract

Homework in music class |
Secondary abstract: |
Views on homework in music class (hereinafter reffered to as GUM) are mutually quite different. The purpose of the master thesis was to examine the practice of GUM at primary level and to determine what the views of teachers and students on it are. The aim was also to determine whether the seniority and different classes affect the teachers' views and whether the gender and the class they are attending affect the pupils' views. The study is divided into two parts. The first part includes 97 Slovenian teachers, while the second part includes 409 pupils from Carinthia region. The data were obtained through a questionnaire for teachers as well as a questionnaire for students and were processed with the program SPSS 21.0. For the data analysis ▫$\chi^2$▫-test and Kruskal-Wallis H-test were used. Most teachers believe that homework in GUM is partially important. The results showed that different classes do not affect the frequency of administration of homework in GUM and the motivating of pupils for doing it. On the other hand the results showed that seniority affects the frequency of administration of certain types of homework in GUM. The results of the second part of the research showed that gender affects the frequency and the cause of doing homework. The class on the other hand does not affect the frequency of doing it, but if affects the cause of doing it. The gender affects the evaluation of homework interestingness and the selection of favourite homework in GUM. The class does not affect the decision-making of pupils for voluntary homework. The pupils find the homework in GUM mainly interesting. We established that it would be useful for the teachers to administrate their pupils homework in GUM more often, although it is not necessary for it to always be compulsory. The pupils should through homework be more often encouraged to experience the genuine contact with the music in nature and at various music cultural events. Music is an important part of our lives, therefore it would be good for the teachers to ensure with high-quality, diverse and interesting homework that the pupils optimally develop their musical interests and potentials. |
