Abstract

Namen magistrskega dela je preučiti povezave zasvojenosti s pametnim telefonom in z različnimi načini uporabe pametnega telefona z depresivnostjo, anksioznostjo, dimenzijama navezanosti, samospoštovanjem in samokontrolo. V raziskavi je sodelovalo 363 slovenskih študentov. Povprečna starost udeležencev je bila 23 let. Uporabljeni so bili naslednji pripomočki: Lestvica zasvojenosti s pametnim telefonom - kratka verzija (SAS-SV), Lestvici procesne in socialne rabe (Process and social usage scales), Lestvice depresivnosti, anksioznosti in stresa (DASS-21), Vprašalnik odnosnih struktur (ECR-RS), Kratka lestvica samokontrole (BSCS) in Rosenbergova lestvica samospoštovanja (RSES).

Secondary title: Smartphone usage and smartphone addiction in relation to some psychological factors
Secondary abstract: The aim of this Master's Thesis was to investigate the relationship between smartphone use and addiction, and depression, anxiety, attachment-related dimensions, self-esteem and self-control. The study involved 363 Slovenian students. The average age of the participants was 23. We used the following instruments: Smartphone Addiction Scale - Short Version (SAS-SV), Process and social usage scales, Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scales (DASS-21), Relationships Structures Questionnaire (ECR-RS), Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS) and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES). It was shown that depression and anxiety positively correlate with smartphone addiction, and that the two important factors in the relationship between depression and smartphone addiction are self-esteem and attachment-related anxiety. Through mediation analyses we also discovered that process usage and self-control mediate the relationship between depression and smartphone addiction. The detailed analysis of different motives related to smartphone use showed that escapism is more and the use of calls is less common in the individuals with higher level of depression and anxiety and in the individuals with lower self-esteem. Moreover, the use of the text messages is less common in individuals with lower self-esteem and the use of social networking sites for communication purposes is more common in the individuals, addicted to smartphones. We also found a positive correlation between smartphone addiction and social usage, but no other factor, investigated in our thesis, was found to be related to social usage. There were no sex or age-related differences in smartphone addiction.
