(diplomsko delo)
Abstract

Use of scoring scales with trauma patients in emergency medical services |
Secondary abstract: |
Improving the prognosis of trauma patients is the goal of everyone working in emergency medical services. The usage of scores and scales can help evaluate the condition of the patient more thoroughly and objectively, which leads to a more appropriate and specific measures being taken and effects the trauma patient’s prognosis. With them we can also evaluate the progression or regression of the patient’s condition when re-evaluating and compare evaluations taken at different times. In this diploma we used the descriptive method. Our reference was literature written in Slovene and foreign languages. The purpose of this diploma is to present different types of scores and scales, their significance and reasons to use them in emergency medicine. We asked ourselves research questions, because we were interested in the purpose of different scores and scales in emergency medicine, if the evaluation is an expertise of the physician or also a competence of a graduated medical technician and what are the differences in the use between (AVPU score) the alertness scale, eye opening response scale, response to pain scale and Glasgow coma scale. We described the most commonly used scores and scales in emergency medicine and compared them with the ones used abroad. |
