Abstract

O izvedbi elektrokonverzije so pacienti ustrezno poučeni.

Secondary title: Treatment of patients with atrial fibrillation during cardioversion
Secondary abstract: Theoretical background: One of the most common cardiac arrhythmias is atrial fibrillation. Its main characteristic is irregular function of atria and simultaneously irregular function of ventricles. Severe cases of AF can be treated with electroconversion where correct nursing care is of great importance. The goal of the thesis is to find out if electroconversion is more common in older patients and if the patients are adequatelly informed of the treatment process. Research methodology: For the theoretical part of the thesis a descriptive method was used. Research is based on quantitative methodology. A survey was conducted among patients. Gathered data was then processed, statistically analysed, and graphically depicted in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Results: It was concluded that atrial fibrillation is more common among patients 61-70 years of age. Despite taking therapy for the prevention of arrhythmias, patients still come in for electroconversion once a year on average. Patients are adequately informed of the electroconversion process. Conclusion: Atrial fibrillation is more common among the elderly, Patients with severe arrhythmias experience fear and anxiety which is why it is of vital importance that they are adequatelly informed of the electroconversion process, healthy lifestyle and anticoagulant therapy.
