Secondary title: | Technological solutions for the problem of suppressing string algea in cooling towers |
Secondary abstract: | The thesis studies the effects of light and hydrophobic coatings on the development and collection of algae in cooling towers. The purpose of the thesis was to test possible new methods for preventing or reducing the formation of algae in cooling towers. One of the main goals was to find possible technological solutions, which would at the same time improve the economic and environmental situation of Termoelektrarna Šoštanj. We tested the efficiency of hydrophobic coatings in preventing the collection of algae on a series of concrete troughs. The second method was preventing the growth of algae using anti-light barriers. The results show that both techniques were successful in preventing the accumulation of algae, also both show the possibility of using in practice. |
