Abstract
Namen diplomskega dela je bil razviti matematični model, ki bi učinkovito opisoval reakcije nevtralizacije močne kisline z močno bazo v kontinuirnem mešalnem reaktorju in ga uporabiti v računalniški simulaciji procesa.
Simulacije smo izvedli s programom Simulink. Razvili in implementirali smo teoretični model nevtralizacije, s konstantnima pretokoma kisline in baze in spremljali, kako se spreminja pH s časom. Osrednji del diplomskega dela predstavlja povratno zančna regulacija procesa nevtralizacije. V model smo vgradili proporcionalno integrirni (PI) regulator, ki regulira pretok baze. Določili smo proporcionalno in integrirno časovno konstanto regulatorja in preučevali odzivnost regulatorja v različnih območjih pH. Na koncu smo preučevali vpliv motnje in sposobnost povratno zančne PI regulacije, da motnjo odpravi.
Rezultati kažejo, da predstavljeni matematični model reakcij nevtralizacije v kontinuirnem mešalnem reaktorju zadovoljivo prikazuje realno obnašanje sistema. Ugotavljamo, da lahko, kljub izraziti nelinearnosti procesa, s povratno zančno PI regulacijo ustrezno reguliramo pH v vseh območjih, tudi ob prisotnosti motnje. Na osnovi rezultatov in izkušenj menimo, da je Simulink zaradi preproste implementacije matematičnega modela in številnih naprednih, že vgrajenih funkcionalnosti (npr. napredni algoritmi za reševanje sistemov diferencialnih enačb, avtomatsko določevanje konstant regulatorja itd.) primerno orodje za izvedbo dinamičnih simulacij in študija regulacije za primer nevtralizacije v kontinuirnem mešalnem reaktorju.

Modeling of neutralization reactions in stirred tank reactor |

The main purpose of this thesis was to develop a mathematical model, that would effectively describe reactions among strong acids and strong bases in a continuous stirred tank reactor and to use it in a computer simulation.
For simulation purposes, we were using computer program Simulink. We developed a theoretical neutralization model with constant acid and base flow, implemented it into Simulink and observed how pH was changing with time.
The main part of the thesis is feedback control of the neutralization process. We installed a PI controller that controls base flow rate, defined its constants and observed its responsiveness with various pH set points. Finally, we studied the effect of a disturbance and ability of a PI controller to eliminate it.
Results indicate that the presented mathematical model of neutralization in a continuous stirred tank reactor adequately describes the behaviour of the neutralization process. We can conclude that, despite high nonlinearity of the process, it is possible to control pH with feedback PI controller, independently of the pH set-point value, even in the presence of disturbances. Based on the results and experience, we can conclude that Simulink is an appropriate tool for dynamic simulations and control studies of neutralization in a continuous stirred tank reactor. This is mainly because of simple implementation of mathematical model and various progressive in-built functionalities (e.g. advanced algorithms for solving differential equations, automatic determination of constants of the controller etc.) |
