Abstract

Secondary title: Cutting processes for machining wood
Secondary abstract: Competitiveness and production of quality products is the main aim of every company nowadays. When woodworking we should choose materials and woodworking tools according to machining properties of wood. In addition to this, the selection of cutting conditions, properly sharpened tools and other parameters are of utmost importance. Diploma thesis presents general analysis of woodworking and the most common woodworking procedures. Thesis is focused on cutting tools, it's characteristics and also on the suitability of cutting materials and their use. Toll wear and sharpening of tools are also taken into consideration. We have come to the conclusion that the most commonly used materials for cutting tools are hart metal (HM) and high-speed steel (HSS) even though they are less durable than diamond tools. However, they are more affordable than diamond ones.
