Abstract

Prvi del diplomske naloge predstavlja teoretični del, v katerem predstavim, kaj je to koncept (pojem) in kaj je definicija. Posvetim se vprašanju, zakaj je definicija pomembna in kakšnim zahtevam mora ustrezati. Pojasnim razliko med definicijo koncepta in sliko koncepta. Opišem, kakšna naj bi bila interakcija med njima in zakaj je le-ta pomembna. Drugi del diplomskega dela predstavlja empirični del, v okviru katerega sem izvedla pilotsko raziskavo, s katero sem ugotavljala, v kolikšni meri učenci v sedmem razredu uporabljajo definicijo pri geometriji. Omejila sem se na tematiko štirikotnikov. Sestavila sem preizkus znanja, ki preverja različne načine uporabe definicije in povezovanja definicije s sliko pojma. Z njim sem želela ugotoviti, v kolikšni meri so učenci sedmega razreda zmožni uporabljati definicijo in v kolikšni meri povezujejo definicijo pojmov s sliko pojmov. Rezultate preizkusa sem povezala tudi z uspešnostjo učencev pri matematiki.

Secondary title: The meaning and knowledge of definition in elementary school geometry
Secondary abstract: The first part of the diploma thesis considers the theoretical aspects of the meaning of concepts and definition of concepts. The focus is on the question ‘Why are definitions important and how should definitions look like?’. Then, the difference between the definition of a concept and the image of a concept is explained and the interactions between them considered. The second part of this diploma thesis describes the results of a pilot study, which considered the extent to which seventh graders use definitions in geometry. The study was limited to the subject of quadrilaterals. A test, specifically designed for the research, is presented. The test measured the understanding of definitions of quadrilaterals and the quality of the concept image of quadrilaterals. In the analysis we considered whether the two aspects are correlated and whether they are correlated to the students’ general performance in maths.
