Abstract

Uporabili smo kvalitativno neeksperimentalno metodo empiričnega raziskovanja - intervju. Podatke smo obdelali s pomočjo kvalitativne vsebinske analize, ki vključuje naslednje faze: transkribiranje, določanje enot kodiranja, določanje pojmov, določanje kategorij in formulacijo teorije.

Secondary title: Self-Evaluation of gifted students
Secondary abstract: The purpose of the master's thesis was to gain the insight into the understanding of the identified talented students' own talent, and their self-image and self-evaluation. I was also interested in their opinion about perceiving their talent by the peers, and their perception of their own acceptance amongst their peers in the classroom. At the same time, I wanted to find out how gifted students evaluate the activities in which they are involved as talented students. Throughout the interviews with talented students, I wanted to get an insight into their self-image as well as self-awareness of the acceptance among the peers. The survey included talented students between the age of 11 and 15, which is from the sixth to the ninth grade of elementary school. Altogether twelve talented students from three elementary schools were included in the study. I used a qualitatively non-experimental method of empirical research - an interview. I processed the data by means of a qualitative content analysis involving the following phases; transcribing, determining coding units, determining terms, determining categories and formulating the theory. I did not generalize the acquired data to the whole population since these were interviews in which I obtained the opinions of twelve talented students. Overall, the answers were quite similar and fully opposed answers were rare. Interviewed students are in the majority students who know and are aware of their talents, nurture it and are prepared to put a lot of effort for their success. They are not treated differently because of their talents. Their relationship with classmates is good and they generally get along well with everyone. In general, they have the right degree of self-esteem, however, they are more often not confident enough, rather than being overconfident. These students have many hobbies and extra-curricular activities, and are interested in various things. They perceive themselves as favourites among peers or somewhere in the middle. They are aware of their strengths and weaknesses, and others mainly connect them with school objects.
