Abstract

Testiranci so povezovali slikovne reprezentacije vzorcev z ustreznimi vzorci iz konkretnega materiala, glasovnimi in gibalnimi vzorci s shemami AB, ABB in ABC.

Secondary title: ǂThe ǂinfluence of the pattern core on children's abilities to connect the pattern with the pictorial representation
Secondary abstract: There are different types of patterns and all of them are an integral part of our everyday life, therefore, children quickly start to get interested in them. The task of adults, particularly preschool teachers, is to already in the preschool period encourage the child's interest for patterns and to properly direct him to observe patterns and discover that some patterns are similar or have the same scheme. We checked this crucial discovery for the understanding of the concept of patterns with the presented research, including 50 preschool children, 23 girls and 27 boys. The subjects connected pictorial representations with suitable patterns from concrete material, voice and motion patters with the schemes AB, ABB and ABC. Despite the fact that patterns with the AB-scheme are known to be the simplest, the research has shown that children best connected pictorial representations with patterns with the ABC-scheme in the case of patterns from concrete material as well as in the case of motion patterns. Patterns with the AB-scheme were best solved only in the case of voice patterns. The research also showed that preschool children are most successful in connecting pictorial representation with patterns from concrete material, since in the case of all the three discussed schemes they mostly connected them. The results confirm the findings of previous researches, which emphasize the importance of concrete material in the preschool period.
