diplomsko delo
Abstract

Analysis of results of dynamometry in young male and female tennis players in connection with the competition performance |
Secondary abstract: |
Tennis is sport where the dominant side of the body is more loaded than the other. Major differences between the sides of the body lead to injuries. Therefore, the best prevention is sports diagnostics which include the method of dynamometry. The purpose of the study was to determine the impact of the results of dynamometry on the competitive performance of young Slovenian tennis players.
The sample consisted of 88 players from 11 to 16 years of age who were regularly training and competing in tournaments organized by Tennis Slovenian Association and were on the broader list for the selection of national team representatives in the Tennis Slovenian Association. The dynamometer tests with manual dynamometer were performed at the annual regular testing in October 2016. The maximal force of the grip of the dominant and non-dominant was measured and the average force of the grip produced in 20 seconds of the dominant and non-dominant arm was measured. The players were classified by gender in the age group into three categories, up to 12, 14 and 16 years. Data were processed with the statistical program SPSS 19.0 and Microsoft Excel 2013. The arithmetic mean and standard deviation was calculated for each individual category. Then the correlation test was run and the results were checked with Sperman’s rank correlation coefficient which checked the relationship between the variables. For the verification of hypothesis we used a 5% level of risk.
We wanted to determine whether there are statistically significant differences between the categories that influence the competitive performance that we checked with the final rankings of the 2016 season. We found that there is no correlation between the highest grip force and the place on the rankings. The results show that players with minor differences between the dominant and the non-dominant side are worse and occupy lower rankings. In the category of up to 16 years the leading player has the highest values of dynamometry which indicates greater physical development. |
