Abstract

Pri urejanju in obdelavi podatkov smo uporabili program Microsoft Excel in SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). S pomočjo Hi-kvadrata in t-testa smo sprejeli oziroma zavrnili hipoteze s 5 % stopnjo tveganja.

Secondary title: Sports activities and eating habits of preschool children in nursery school Ljutomer
Secondary abstract: The aim of this thesis is to analyse the level of physical activity of children that go to Kindergarten Ljutomer. Along with the analysis of the physical activity itself, the thesis also looks into the children's eating habits as well as the programme-related, organisational, staffing and material conditions for carrying out sports activities in the above-mentioned institution, which are then compared to other kindergartens in Slovenia. The data for the research was obtained with the help of a survey questionnaire, which was filled in by the parents of the children who go to Kindergarten Ljutomer as well as by the head teacher of the kindergarten. The sample comprised 42 parents whose children are aged between 1 and 6 years of age. For the purposes of data editing and processing the programs Microsoft Excel and SPPS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) were used. With the help of the chi-square test and the students t-test we were able to confirm or reject the hypotheses with a risk level of 5%. The thesis shows that there is no correlation between the level of physical activity of the kindergarten children and that of their parents. However, there is a correlation between the eating habits of the children and those of their parents. We were able to determine that children eat more healthy food if their parents set a good example by doing so themselves. The thesis also shows that in comparison to children from other Slovenian kindergartens, children in Ljutomer are less active when it comes to unorganised forms of physical activity while the level or organisation pertaining to sports activities in Kindergarten Ljutomer is comparable to other Kindergartens in Slovenia. The material conditions for the organisation of said activities are also similar to those in other Kindergartens. Future surveys should be based on a bigger sample of preschool children. We recommend a comparison of the levels of sports activity of those children who go to kindergarten and those who do not. The surveys could also focus on possible differences between boys and girls as well as between those who live in towns and those from the countryside.
