Abstract

Lidarske podatke smo obdelali v programu ArcMap in CloudCompare.

Secondary title: Use of lidar data to estimate the tree damage - case study of ice-break
Secondary abstract: In the area of forest management unit Snežnik, we estimated crown damage after ice-break from 2014. The area was recorded with LIDAR technology in November 2013 and April 2014. Lidar data was processed in ArcMap and CloudCompare. The study included 111 trees, of which 65 were silver fir (Abies alba Mill.) and 46 common beech (Fagus sylvatica L.). Using CloudCompare, we calculated the distances between the points that were closest from 2013 and 2014 lidar data. This gave us the distances of damage that led to the following findings: the beech was statistically significantly more damaged than fir (p < 0,05). We discovered the connection between the height of the tree and the crown damage (p < 0,05), the length of the crown and the crown damage (p < 0,05). We have not been able to statistically determine the effect the forest density has on crown damage because of ice-break (p > 0,05).
