Abstract

Secondary abstract: EU countries practise several forms of support which help to stimulate and fund literary translation into other languages, thus promoting the country and its culture, particularly its literature and authors. These systems of support are of great importance to minor language literatures, which encounter more problems in attempting to reach foreign audiences. The MA thesis compares the means by which the translation of national literatures into foreign languages is stimulated in various EU countries. On this basis, and with due consideration of the current mechanisms, proposals are formed for the introduction of a more comprehensive Slovenian support strategy.
