Abstract

Secondary title: Antidecubitus seat cushions for wheelchairs
Secondary abstract: Introduction: Antidecubitus seating cushions are used for people who suffer from pressure or tendency to develop, as various seat cushions reduce pressure on the diseased site and better distribute the body weight of the user to the entire saddle area. Purpose: The aim of the thesis is based on literature review to present the efficiency of the different antidecubic seat cushions for wheelchairs. Methods: In the preparation of the thesis is used the descriptive method of work with the systematic review of literature on domestic and foreign websites. We reviewed the literature with the help of DiKUL - Digital Library of the University of Ljubljana, COBBIS, PubMed.gov, Springer link, dlib.si, Pub honey, Science direct, Google scholars. We also used books and electronic resources when reviewing literature. The literature found was limited in time to 2010 to 2017. Some sources were also older than 2010. We used mostly foreign sources to write the thesis paper. Results: In the reviewed articles, the authors have undertaken a lot of research on the effectiveness of seat cushions in reducing the pressure and redistributing the weight of the seat cushion users to a larger saddle surface. The total number of results used is 9 and found under the conditions stated in the methods of work. The results are presented in the table by the author, the title of the research, the number of participants in the sresearch and the average age and weight of the participants. Discussion and conclusion: More research needs to be done on the success of treatment and inhibition of ulcers caused by pressure and other external factors with seat cushions for wheelchairs.
