Abstract

Secondary title: Economic analysis of registration of breeding station for American Quarter Horses
Secondary abstract: The graduate work subject is validation of economic justification to set up and register an admission station for horses. In the field, we can find different cases of agricultural holdings that are involved in this activity. Among different horse breeds, there are big differences in the market prices for admissions, number of mares, as well as the purchasing prices of stallions. Especially stallions are the major reason for price differences. Within the work, we focus on American Quarter Horse breed and use the typical conditions of an average ranch in Slovenia. To find out whether purchase of a stallion and registration of admission station would prove to be profitable, we need to do detailed economic analysis. Stallion purchase and registration of the admission station present relatively high costs. To cover the costs, the number of admitted mares needs to be high enough. Our conclusion is that the admission price of 800 € brings profit rate between 3.99 % to 18.81 %. To reach the zero profits we need different number of mares in relation to the price of admission and the time of the stallion active breeding usage. Our results are from maximum ten mares at price 600 € and five year period to minimum four mares at price 1000 € and ten year period.
