Abstract

S tematiziranjem nasilja nad nečloveškimi bitji in naravo sta avtorja razširila polje izkoriščanja, moralno obsodila vsakršno izkoriščanje in zatiranje Drugega ter s tem do skrajnosti utemeljila svoja temeljna moralna prepričanja. Oba avtorja problematizirata človekov odnos do narave in živali ter zahtevata prepoznanje vrednosti vseh živih bitij in spremembo odnosa do njih.

Secondary abstract: This Master thesis deals with poetry of Svetlana Makarovič and Jure Detela from the standpoint of ecocriticism. Ecocriticism as a special literary discipline studies the relationship between literature and the physical environment and it appeared in the nineties. In the foreground of the theoretic part of this work there is a presentation of basic theoretic and methodological basis for ecocriticism. Presented are samples of research questions, which are the subject of ecocriticism. Animal and nature studies are also discussed as they represent starting points for further ecocritical analysis of the poems. In the following part, life and work of authors, their relationship with animals and nature are presented. Poems are analyzed from the standpoint of ecocriticism. Special emphasis is given to the human - animal and human - nature relationship that can be seen through selected poems. By thematizing violence against non-human beings and nature, both authors widened the scope of exploitation and condemned all forms of exploitations and repression of Others, thus firmly substantiating their moral beliefs. Both authors raised the issue of human relationship to animals and nature and demand acknowledgement of the inherent value of animals.
