Secondary abstract: | This thesis deals with the novel The Sirens of Titan and the short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut. It establishes a connection between the author's peculiar understanding and perception of time and the way his works are interconnected. It deals further with the portrayal of society in the aforementioned two works and the reasons for its emergence. The thesis's goal is to tie them to the special structure of the American society and its values. By doing this it also refutes former theories based on the ideological message of the works. |
