Abstract

Secondary title: ǂThe ǂeffect of music therapy in special needs children in the preschool period
Secondary abstract: The purpose of this master's thesis was to determine the effects of implementing selected music therapy techniques on children with special needs in the preschool period. The survey encompassed five children from the developmental class of the Litija Kindergarten, who are included in the adapted programme for preschool children of different ages and who exhibit various developmental deficits (speech and language, motor, sensory and cognitive deficits). For survey purposes, 10 music workshops were held, and later analysed and evaluated by means of video recordings. A multiple case study was conducted; in the case of a specific girl, her progress was evaluated further using the H. M. Ridder five-step method. The results show progress in all developmental areas (motor, cognitive and social), with the greatest progress evident in the area of attention and concentration.
