Abstract
Matere so v večini seznanjene o zdravi prehrani nosečnice in otrok.

ABSTRACT
Theoretical introduction: It is the parents’ responsibility to care for their children’s eating habits for good development and healthy life are provided to children. Mothers have to be aware of the importance of healthy eating habits and they have to transmit this habit to their children. Nurses can offer help and support, encourage and lead mothers.
Research methodology: A descriptive method was applied in the theoretical part. Data was collected by using a partly structured questionnaire, however, systematically and later it was transferred into Microsoft Excel, where the variable type (nominal, ordinal, and interval) was defined and entered.
Results: 40 mothers participated in the research. The research has shown that mothers younger than 30 (33 %) do not breastfeed longer than mothers over 30 (36 %). We have come to the conclusion that mothers with one child are less aware of the fact that breast-feeding till the age of one is advantageous for a child. However, mothers with more children are better informed (95 %). Mothers with only one child are better informed about which liquid to be offered to babies.
Discussion and conclusion: The research results have shown that no matter how many children do mothers have or how old they are, there is still lack of knowledge. Therefore, the cooperation of mothers with nurses is of key importance in order to follow the latest guidelines and to be self-confident when taking decisions about their children’s development and healthy life style. |
