Abstract

Kvalitetno načrtovano in oblikovano optimizacijo odprtega prostora predstavi kot skupek upoštevanja prostora z vsemi značilnostmi, dobrega poznavanja potreb in zahtev uporabnikov in vključevanja deležnikov v vse faze načrtovanja.

Secondary title: Optimization of the open space for persons suffering form dementia in the selected cases of retirement homes
Secondary abstract: The master’s thesis researches optimization, planning, and designing the open spaces for the persons suffering from dementia. On the basis of the review of the literature, the existing legislation, rulebooks, regulations, recommendations, studies, and examples of good practices, the master’s thesis informs with the history and the significance of designing the open space with regards to the retirement homes, and points out the perspectives of designing the open spaces for persons suffering from dementia and introduces them in the form of designing principles. The practical part is intended for the review of the existing condition of the open spaces in the connection with the retirement homes and the selection of the essential types for the purpose of optimization. Eight essential types of optimization are presented. They are divided into three groups: closed/atrium design of the home with the atrium type of therapeutic garden, semi-open/semi-atrium design of the home with the compound type of the therapeutic garden, and open/point design of the home with the compound type of the therapeutic garden. Various, characteristic methods of optimization of the existing condition of open spaces of the retirement homes are presented within the framework of individual groups. The master’s thesis presents the qualitatively planned and designed optimization of the open space as a whole of taking account of the space with all the characteristics, good knowledge of the needs and demands of the user’s, and integration of the stakeholders into all the phases of the planning.
