Secondary title: | Measurement of impact contact time with a laser beam deflection probe |
Secondary abstract: | In this master thesis, a new method for measuring the contact times when a small balls impact on the glass cube is presented. The method is based on the laser beam deflection due to the deformation of the glass cube at the impact location. Literature survey on the impact duration measuring methods is presented. We described the analytical determination of the impact contact with the use of the Hertz elastic contact theory. The measured contact times are compared with the analytical. Practical application of the measured impact contact times is presented. Its implementation for frequency calibration of piezoelectric displacement sensor is described. We calculated the sensor transfer function in two ways: firstly, we used an analytically derived and, secondly, an experimentally measured impact contact time. |
