Secondary abstract:	Nowadays there are more and more web services which can make our daily tasks easier, from sending mail to shopping and socializing. Among the most popular are the social network sites that allow us to meet new people and stay connected with our friends. Although the web is a very convenient tool, it has its down-sides, and one of them are security threats endangering our personal data. In this thesis we tried to examine the user perception of privacy in social networks. In theoretical part we presented social network sites in general and presented Facebook in more details. We presented how our privacy can be protected with tools offered by Facebook. Further we presented protection of personal data and privacy and examined the problems of privacy in virtual space and privacy protection technologies. In the empirical part we presented and analyzed our research and its results.
