Secondary abstract: During the years wire networks have been replaced by wireless networks due to rapid development of mobile devices. Their use is very simple because they operate through radio waves. Since wireless networks are widely spread, there is a question concerning security of their use. Users must be aware of the fact that security is a key element in using Internet. Low security level can cause various abuses and identity theft. Abuses appear with those wireless networks that are not properly secured. In order to be well protected against attacks it is necessary to know security aspects and protocols. All security aspects, protocols and threats have been studied by using literature and described in the thesis. Furthermore, the research has been made in the wider area of Novo mesto taking into account a detailed analysis of wireless network protections. I have made a comparison between the results of the 2011 analysis and data from Ljubljana, 2013. The results show awareness of users in Novo mesto about wireless networks and the most frequently used protocols.
