Blockchain tehnologija in vpliv kriptovalut na bančništvo

Abstract

V magistrskem delu je opisano delovanje tehnologije blockchain in so predstavljene možnosti njene uporabe v finančnem in nefinančnem sektorju. Osredotočamo se tudi na njeno varnost, ovire in prednosti uporabe. Prav tako je narejena primerjava med bitcoinom in fiat valutami. Od kriptovalut je v magistrskem delu poudarek na bitcoinu. Primerjava se prvenstveno dotika vprašanja, ali je bitcoin lahko prepoznan kot prava valuta in sredstvo za izmenjavo. Opisan je trenutno prevladujoč bančni sistem, njegove prednosti in pomanjkljivosti, opisano je, kako bi lahko kriptovalute nadomestile papirnat denar. Tehnologija blockchain predstavlja revolucijo tako v bančništvu kot na drugih področjih. Kriptovalute imajo potencial spremeniti obstoječi bančni sistem.

Secondary abstract:	This master's thesis describes the functioning of the blockchain technology and the possibilities of its use in the financial and non-financial sectors. We also focus on its security, the barriers, and the benefits of using it. A comparison is also made between bitcoin and fiat currencies. The focus is on bitcoin as a cryptocurrency. The comparison primarily addresses the question of whether bitcoin can be identified as a real currency and means of exchange. The current banking system is also described along with its advantages and disadvantages, and how the cryptocurrencies can replace paper money. Blockchain technology is a revolution in both banking and other areas. Cryptocurrencies have the potential to change the existing banking system.
