Employment enables young people to become independent, as they become equal members of society, enabling them to achieve the goals they have set for themselves. The main problem of employment is youth unemployment. Due to their longer education, young people enter the labor market without work experience and, therefore, find it harder to gain employment. However, they have a newer, more complex knowledge, as well as a set of skills and competences. The economic crisis also had a major impact on youth employment. The purpose of this undergraduate thesis is to review the field of youth employment in Slovenia. The theoretical part presents the basics regarding employment, the factors affecting youth employment, the difficulties they encounter in entering the labor market, youth unemployment and active labor market policy measures. The empirical part presents the results of a survey conducted among young people containing questions and answers about the impact of the economic crisis, the job seeking methods of young people, the advantages and disadvantages of young people in matters of employment, and their opinions regarding work experience. |
