Abstract

Preučili smo vrste poškodb glave, glavne simptome in prvo pomoč, katero morajo zaposleni v enotah nujne medicinske pomoči dobro poznati.

Secondary title: Paramedics' competences formanagement of head injuries
Secondary abstract: Theoretical background: Severe head injuries are still a great riddle for health workers, because injured persons often need to learn how to live with consequences, caused by head injury. We have studied a number of head injuries, main symptoms and first aid when it comes to head injuries, which the employees of an emergency department must know very well. Methodology: At theoretical part, we have used a descriptive method of writing, whereas the research part was based on quantitative methodology. Regarding the research part, we have helped ourselves with a questionnaire, which was handed to the target group in printed form. Results: When analyzing data, we have found out that people, who are working as paramedics mostly have great work experience. There is just a small number of paramedics that have little experience. Despite that, we have found out, that 34 % of the rescue workers still do not have the amount of knowledge that we expect, when it comes to head injuries. This could lead to serious complications when intervening at accidents, which involve people with severe head injuries. Conclusion: The paramedics have great influence on the quality of survivors that have a severe head injury. This is because the paramedics are often the ones who are preventing permanent disablement or even death with knowledge that they have. On average, the respondents have shown great knowledge when it comes to head injuries, although they did not answer all the questions correctly.
