Abstract

Secondary abstract: The graduation thesis explores the field of vocal awareness and the ability to write in first grade pupils. The objective of the survey was to verify the ability at mid-term and end of the school year and measure individual progress. The sample was made up of 215 first grade pupils in five Maribor primary schools. We tested the ability of vocal awareness and "writing" in December 2013 and the writing ability in May 2014. The first test showed a relatively good ability of phonemic blending in most pupils. There was a difference in "writing" where the success of writing fell proportionally with the difficulty of the words. The last of the 14 words was "written" only by 32 out of 215 pupils. The results of writing words in May 2014 and their use in monosentential and polisentential sentences showed deviation in the success rate of pupils of individual schools which means the difference among them was conditioned by different factors such as encouraging or discouraging home environment, Slovenian as second language, encouragement to write about ones own feelings and feelings in general.
