Abstract

Z namenom zagotovitve prehransko ustreznih zalog hrane smo ovrednotili priporočila URSZR glede nujne zaloge hrane.

Secondary title: Recommendations for nutrition in emergencies
Secondary abstract: To maintain good nutrition of affected population during unpredictable emergencies the available food supply is needed. Most common natural disasters in Slovenia are floods, landslides, earthquakes and sleet. In recent time also migration flows, refugee situations and terrorist attacks represent possible factors for disaster. As it turned out in the past, such events could disrupt the food and drinking water supply, especially in the most affected and remote areas. Emergency situations can be very physically and mentally difficult for people, however a balanced diet can positively affect individual´s well-being and functioning. The Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief (ACPDR) recommends 30-day emergency food supply for survival needs of an adult. The ACPDR recommendations regarding emergency food supply were evaluated in order to ensure adequate nutritional food supplies. Slovenian recommendations for emergency food supply were compared with international ones. In addition, 6-day menu composed of foods included in the proposed Slovenian emergency food supply was designed. Results showed that the emergency food supply is sufficient in case of energy and macronutrients, but it does not contain enough of certain vitamins and minerals. Intake of dietary fibre with the proposed menu is sufficient. The amount of water in the food supply does not meet the minimum drinking water requirements. Emergency food supply should be supplemented and partially modified.
