diplomska naloga

Abstract

Secondary title: Rock armour designing in coastal engineering
Secondary abstract: In the thesis we describe and compare three methods used for rock armour designing in coastal engineering: the methods Iribarren, Hudson and Van der Meer. Firstly we describe the theoretical background of all three methods. In the second part we describe the application of methods and compare them using fictitious, but probable data in MS Excel software tool. The results depict the difference between methods. The three methods are not directly comparable. The Hudson method results in approximately a two-fold heavier individual rock in the same wave conditions, while the maximum wave for rocks of equal weight differs for 20 % 30%. The duration of a storm causing 5, 20 and 30% damage on the rock armour designed following the Iribarren and Hudson methods disagrees for even an order of magnitude.
