diplomsko delo
Abstract

Re-use of waste water at central Šentjur treatment plant |
Secondary abstract: |
In Slovenia, more than 70% of wastewater from sewerage systems is cleaned at wastewater treatment plants, but almost all of it is left further unused. In 2017, the United Nations paid special attention to the re-use of wastewater and several guidelines and proposals for the re-use of wastewater have also been drawn up at European Union level in recent years. In Slovenia, the legislation on wastewater management in terms of re-use is still in its infancy.
The awareness that natural resources are finite, encourages us to move towards sustainable development and circular economy. In Slovenia, the circular economy is one of the strategic development priorities whose main goal is to ensure the quality of life for all. The reuse of wastewater thus represents an important element of our present and future, both from an economic and environmental point of view.
In the following text we will theoretically present the construction of a system for the re-use of purified waste water on the example of the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant Šentjur. The purpose is to demonstrate the building of such system from the point of view of environmental protection, saving with natural resources and the cost perspective. On the basis of the calculations, the investment is reimbursed in the course of nineteen months, while at the same time we contribute to a lesser burden on natural water resources. |
