Abstract

The United Nations is an organization tasked to promote the objectives of peacekeeping and maintenance of security all over the world. Within the organization, a particular system has been developed to promote and encourage human rights. The most important role related to human rights and fundamental freedoms is occupied by the Human rights Council, which replaced the United Nations Commission on Human Rights that worked under too severe political influence in order to be able to conduct its mission fairly. The main task of the mentioned council is to assure the protection of human rights, that are based on the principles of universality, objectivity and impartiality. The common guidance of Member states must be the protection and the promotion of human rights in their territories as much as possible. The membership in the council must be allowed only to those countries that respect human rights and not to them that want to be part of it just for avoid further review.
