Abstract

Secondary title: An analysis of take-off power of young female basketball players
Secondary abstract: Women's basketball in Slovenia is growing and gaining popularity. There is not much literature about youth training, especially in females. This paper is analysing different vertical jumps and state of push-off strength of selected youth basketball players. Second purpose is to find out if there are any statistically significant differences between positions. We tested 41 female players aged between 13 and 15 years who are on the list of Slovenian national team under 15 years. There were 20 defenders, 15 wings and 6 centers. They performed three different jumps: squat jump, counter movement jump and drop jump from 20 cm and 40 cm. We analysed different parameters for each of the jumps. In squat jump analysis we looked at jump height, take off time and maximal acceleration. In counter movement jump analysis we looked at jump height, deceleration force and force transfer into concentric part. In both drop jumps we analysed jump heights and contact times. Difference between heights of squat jump and counter movement jump was analysed. Variance analysis showed no statistically significant differences between positions.
