Secondary abstract: | In the first part of this diploma, we summarize theories of two essential theorists Johan Huizinga and Roger Caillois. Their basic is that game is not a human invention but exist independently in interaction with human or animal. They defined the game with characteristics and tried to categorize it. Further is an overview of the game as a cultural factor through different historical ages. The second part of the diploma is about graphic design. There are presented theoretical principles of graphic design. Based on those principles we analyzed some graphic examples from history. The last part of the diploma is a merge of the first two. We made a selection of board games from their origin to the beginning of 20 century when it comes to a turning point in board games. For the link between graphic and games, we took as object for analyzing three games with the best rating on the largest internet base of registered board games. |
