Secondary abstract: | This undergraduete thesis sheds light on the parallels between Hegel's term unhappy consciousness and Ivan Karamazov - the protagonist of Dostojevski's novel The Brothers Karamazov - and between Hegel's term revealed religion and Aljoša Karamazov - the protagonist from the same novel. Both of the protagonists, Ivan and Aljoša, personify the development of consciousness that yearns for absolute knowledge. Through Bahtin's literary theoretical discourse, the form of polyphonic novel, the paradigmatic protagonists of Dostojevski's novels and the distinction between Dostojevski as a novelist and as a publicist are discussed in details. |
